Wild thing!

Here is the Zebra print ‘Clematis’ Clutch (Design Blue Calla Patterns).

I had a Fat Quarter of some Zebra fabric, along with my new black vinyl which I purchase a while ago, and thought this would look great together.

I am totally happy with this, I think it looks great.

Shop…shop…shop

I have made this eco-friendly market tote / shopping bag, which is reusable and washable. I thought I would run a little giveaway competition on my Sew Wattscreative Facebook Page .

The bag is made of Calico cotton, with double handles and is fully lined, I added a little applique to the front.  It is a good size.

Why use plastic bags when you can use this one of a kind shopper made by me.

To be in with a chance of winning this very bag, head along to my page (a link is given above).  Click like and comment under the post pinned (at the top of the page) with the word ‘SHOP’. Entries close on Tuesday 10th May 2016 at 6pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time), when the winner will be announced shortly after.

Reusable Market / Shopper Tote

Are you ready for the weekend?

Introducing my latest completed project “The Weekender” pattern courtesy of Liesl made.

This was certainly a challenging bag to make, due to the limited instructions provided – however, I am quite pleased with the finished result.  I have added an internal zip pocket too.

Fabric was from the upholstery section at IKEA and the dainty floral fabric was a bargain at Spotlight a few weeks ago.

This bag is fairly large, for photos I have placed five bath towels inside to show the shape off nicely, so that gives you an idea of how big this is.

I fixed webbed strapping to the handles, it is a mix of masculine and feminine, therefore ladies, your man wouldn’t mind carrying this bag for you on a weekend away!!! Hint hint….

If I were to make another of these bags, I would certainly add a slip pocket to the outside.

The Weekender!

Slow progress

Hello everyone, been a bit slack with posts over the past couple of weeks.

I’ve been trying to get my head around sewing the Weekend Bag by Leisl Made, another free pattern, but the instructions aren’t that clear, so it’s taken a bit of working out, and for my little head, I don’t mind admitting, it’s taken some time!

I’ve finally got the top section complete, and the handle sections made.  Progress is slow but I’m getting there!

Exciting news….

Last week I saw a blog on our local markets – They were reaching out, looking for local artists to take up stalls rent free.  In order to be in with a chance you had to send an email and sell yourself, along with a showcase of your work.

I thought it would be great to have a joint stall with my other half (Pete)  he is a watercolour artist he is the ‘art’ part of Wattscreative – check out his Facebook page and give him a ‘Like’.

So I sent in a ‘resume’ and today we got some exciting news that we have been approved for the ‘rent free’ section at the market!  Happy days.  So hopefully next month we can get our items together and head on down to Carrara Markets

Pretty Flamingo Clutch Bag

This morning we headed out to Broadbeach, unknowingly that the Arts and Craft markets were on.  Had a little mooch around there, ho-hum there are so many bag sellers, so don’t think I stand a look in getting into that scene!  But I can try, application is in.

This afternoon I was intent on completing my Flamingo design bag.  I put a top zip in this one, took a bit of working out, but got there in the end, but….ooPs I forgot something!  Anyway, here is the Flamingo Clutch bag, I think it looks pretty cool!  Nobody will ever know there was meant to be handles!!!  That’s between you and me….

This will be on Etsy for sale shortly for AU$39.95.

I post internationally (postage to be paid by they Buyer).  To give you an idea postage to the UK is around AU$20 (around £11.00)

Calavera!

A calavera is Spanish for “skull” is a representation of a human skull. The term is most often applied to decorative or edible skulls made (usually by hand) from either sugar or clay which are used in the Mexican celebration of the Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos). (courtesy of wikipedia)

This fabric is designed by Alexander Henry renowned for his take on skeletal figure design fabrics.  I loved this one it is so eye-catching.

So here is the completed “Coco” bag by ChrisWdesigns.  This pattern was relatively easy to follow, and only took a few hours to make.

It is a nice size bag.  I opted for flat handles as opposed to the piped version with metal accessories (only because I didn’t have any to hand!).  I think I shall be making a few more of these for my Etsy shop.  I have ideas to change the front too, maybe adding an external zip pocket – watch this space!

New ‘free’ pattern trial

I have got a new pattern to try.  This is a free one by ChrisW designs Link for anyone interested  It is called Coco – it is an everyday bag design.

I have chosen to use the fabric I purchased from Black Tulip Quilts a little while ago.  The fabric is Folkloric Fabric by Alexander Henry – Orange Sugar Skulls, I thought it was pretty cool, and I got it cheap in the sale $14 for nearly 2 metres as it was the end of roll!

Here are the pattern piece cut out (except the handles, which I am undecided about at the moment!)

Medium Tote Bag

As my new walking foot arrived last week, I was able to tackle putting the medium tote bag together, and did so with ease, the walking foot makes going through layers easy.

Here is the result, my third Two Pretty Poppets Stand up and Tote notice bag, the medium size, which is pretty large.  I love this tweed / check fabric which was a cheap op shop find, 2m of fabric for about $3 a few years ago, it has been great to work with.
